Some Thoughts: It has been nearly a year of doing this full time, and every day that it’s still going amazes me. I uploaded my first two videos on this channel near the end of 2024 just to try something out, as no one was making fully edited Balatro videos at the time. Both of those videos did okay for first uploads, sitting at around a thousand views for a while, but it wasn’t enough to continue putting in the effort it took. My first video was on completing Balatro Jokerless, which at the time seemed like a big achievement, though it’s a good laugh to watch back now. My second video was on a mod I had stumbled upon: the Balatro Multiplayer mod. I found this mod thanks to my friend Jake. We’ve played hundreds of multiplayer games together, many of them being mods for single-player games, and after we had both spent so much time playing Balatro, I figured I should search to see if something similar existed. The multiplayer mod was originally created by one person, Virtualized, who I owe so much to for creating this mod and starting a community that has become such a big part of my life. At first, the infrastructure for playing against others was very crude, if you wanted to 1v1, you had to ask a friend or send a message into the void. To fix this, the first multiplayer tournament was hosted. It was still very simple, consisting of a bunch of Discord calls between two players and a Discord stage, with the mod’s developer commentating and moderating. While this tournament was happening, Virtualized sent me a DM thanking me for making the video on the mod, which was odd because it had been five months since I uploaded it. I decided to log back into the Bean account to see why, and I was shocked to find the video had gained nearly 100,000 views in just the last few days after sitting stagnant for so long. It seemed that after enough searches for Balatro multiplayer over time, the algorithm realized people were interested. With the success of that video, I decided to record my matches for the first tournament and make another video. Sure enough, that video also performed far beyond my expectations. It became clear that there was a wave of people interested in multiplayer, so I kept uploading videos, riding that wave and waiting for it to die down. Now, a year later, I’m still uploading videos on the mod, and I’m still waiting. I’m amazed by how many people are interested in what I’m creating and will actually watch me just play the game I love. So whether you sit down and watch every video or just use them as background noise to fall asleep to, thank you. Thank you for enabling me to do a job that I love. And while it can be very stressful creating content for 50,000 people, I wouldn’t want to do anything else. I’m forever grateful for the position I’m in, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I hope you liked this video, it was either this or beating Balatro, but the shop is all beans (maybe I’ll save that for 100K). Special thanks: Jake - for being the reason I discovered the multiplayer mod Virtualized - for creating the mod and spawning such a large community The multiplayer moderators - for making the mod possible My Brother/Editor - for helping me grow this channel so much further and being someone to talk to about it @drspectred - for taking a chance being the first person to collaborate with me and continuing to do so countless times @ZainoTVLive - for creating and inviting me to the major leagues and helping so much with the growth of my channel @RoffleLite - for all the kind words(I am always watching) and being such a professional and easy person to work with @Vagabondbalatro - for motivating me to stream more and always being down for a 1v1 Edited by gh Discord - https://discord.com/invite/czad47wgpx Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/turtlebean_ If you are unfamiliar with the Balatro multiplayer mod, it puts two players head to head on the same seed and each boss blind is replaced with a PVP blind where you face off and try to beat the other player score. The first person to run out of lives loses. Balatro is a poker roguelike deck building game centered around creating powerful synergies and winning with big hands. In it, you can combine valid poker hands with unique Jokers in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat blinds, including challenging boss blinds, to make it to the next ante and progress your run! -
